The 2016 SERNW Regional Conference on ecological restoration will bring together scientists, restoration professionals, and government agencies involved in the practice and science of ecological restoration and management in the Cascadia Bioregion.

As part of the Southwest conference this year, we plan to host roundtable discussions designed to identify communication issues that occur during wildfires, to understand and appreciate varied perspectives, and to brainstorm scenarios where good communication enables managers to meet resource objectives more readily.

This conference is intended to provide information on the management of the forestry and wildland fire program, with emphasis on both internal and external partnerships which address the maintenance of healthy and productive forests. Additionally, we will work to explore opportunities and strategies focused on the creation of an educated, sustainable workforce.

The 2016 Wildland Fire conference will take place this year in Kelowna, BC from October 24th-28th. This year's theme is "Building Resilience." Call for abstracts is now open and topics will focus on anticipating change; designing resilient fire management systems; defining and managing resilient landscapes; and planning smarter, safer, resilient communities.

The annual NW Climate Conference is the region's premier opportunity for a cross-disciplinary exchange of knowledge and ideas relating to climate impacts and adaptation.
