Skokomish River At Potlatch affecting Mason County. .Heavy rain today into Wednesday will bring rainfall amounts of 3-5 inches to the Olympics. This will lead to moderate flooding on the Skokomish River late tonight into early Wednesday. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Skokomish River at Potlatch. * WHEN...From this afternoon to late Friday evening. * IMPACTS...At 17.5 feet, the Skokomish River will cause moderate flooding, with deep and quick flood waters inundating some residential areas, many roads, and much of the farm land in the Skokomish Valley. Inundated roads include the Skokomish Valley road, Bourgault Road West, Purdy Cutoff Road, and Highway 106. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 11:30 AM PST Tuesday the stage was 15.9 feet. - Flood stage is 16.5 feet. - Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage late this afternoon to 17.8 feet late tonight. * WHAT...Snow and freezing rain expected at or above elevations greater than 2500 ft. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches. Snow levels are expected to rise this afternoon and freezing rain accumulations are possible at or very near the passes. Ice accumulations of up to 0.10 to 0.20 of an inch especially at Stevens Pass. Ice accumulation east of the passes are expected to be much higher. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...West Slopes North Cascades and Passes, West Slopes North Central Cascades and Passes, and West Slopes South Central Cascades and Passes. * WHEN...Until 4 AM PST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult with snow and ice on the roadway. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Periods of snow are expected through this afternoon. Snow will transition to freezing rain by this evening, then to rain early Wednesday morning as snow levels gradually climb from 2500 to near 8000 feet. Ice accumulations are most likely across Snoqualmie and Stevens Passes but cannot be ruled out at White Pass.
