Two back-to-back winter systems will move over the region through Saturday morning. The first will arrive late Wednesday through Thursday. This system will bring snow to the Cascades and breezy winds. The second system will arrive on Friday. This frontal passage is warmer but will continue to be evaluated in regards to future advisories or warnings. * WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations up to 10 to 12 inches. Up to 17 inches above 5500 feet. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...Northern and Central Oregon Cascades. * WHEN...From 5 PM Wednesday to 5 PM PDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There is around a 20% chance that snow accumulation would exceed 12 inches at elevations above 4000 feet. For this scenario to occur, colder air would need to be present than what is forecast. This first system will be closely followed by a second frontal system so there may be minimal break between them.

Cities include Reedsport, North Bend, Coos Bay, Bandon, Port Orford, Nesika Beach, Gold Beach, Pistol River and Brookings. * WHEN...From 7 AM to 5 PM PDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Winds may blow down tree branches and create sporadic power outages. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Major impacts are not anticipated, although there may be some travel difficulties over higher terrain as this system moves through Wednesday evening. Another system is anticipated to move through Friday and impact locations farther north. * WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 16 inches with the highest totals in the Central Cascades and lower totals in the Siskiyou Mountains. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph over high and exposed terrain. * WHERE...Elevations above 5000 feet in the southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains. This includes Crater and Diamond Lake, Lake of the Woods, Mt Ashland Ski Area as well as Highways 140, 62, 138 and 230. * WHEN...From 5 PM Wednesday to 5 PM PDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult during the winter event. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...This is the first of two systems. The second system on Friday will also produce impactful weather for the higher terrain.

Winds could gust as high as 45 mph on Wednesday. * WHERE...Elevations above 4500 feet in the southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains. This includes Crater and Diamond Lakes, Lake of the Woods, Mt Ashland Ski Area as well as Highways 140, 62, 138 and 230. * WHEN...From Wednesday afternoon through Friday evening. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult during the winter event. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...This will come in as two systems with the first on Wednesday and the other on Friday. There will likely be a break between the two systems on Thursday, but there is some uncertainty on how long that break will be.
